Description
I have uploaded the documents and part of the paper. I need help! It is difficult for me to relate the theories to my topic and go into detail about them. I’m not sure how to do that correctly and make the paper flow like it should. A lot is riding on this paper which of course makes it difficult to focus without second guessing myself.

Please remember the final research paper must be 15-20 pages not including
abstract, cover sheet, and reference sheet. Please ensure you have at least 15
pages of content as you lose points if below 15 pages (not including abstract, cover
sheet, reference sheet).
I. Introduction to character with specific examples of the personality.
II. Description of major personality theory A
III. Description of major personality theory B
IV. Describing the person’s personality using theory A
V. Describing the person’s personality using theory B
IV. Summary and/or conclusion.
The following is all listed in the syllabus but I have added here as well:
The references for your final paper are expected to be from the current theoretical,
research, and practice literature in the field.
You are expected/required to use Primary Sources and NOT secondary sources in
your posts and in you final papers. You should be prepared to supply the instructor
with a copy (paper and/or electronic [e.g., .pdf format) of the source that you have
used. This provides a foundation for you to demonstrate, and your instructor to
verify, your academic integrity.
Using primary sources requires that you think critically about the information and
to provide a graduate level discourse. *****Please include a minimum of five
primary sources articles in your research paper
You may only use brief quotes (up to one sentence) in your final paper.
• Use of your own words in posts and your final papers helps to demonstrate your
understanding of the current and seminal theoretical, research, and practice
literature in the field of psychology. Be sure to cite your sources carefully when
paraphrasing
Theoretical, research and practice literature sources (professional articles) are best
when they are current (published within the past five years) and published in peer
reviewed/refereed journals.
You cannot use our course’s textbook for your final paper. This is a research paper
so you need to address the research. A minimum of five research articles should
be included.

Abstract
[The abstract should be one paragraph of between 150 and 250 words. It is not indented.
Section titles, such as the word Abstract above, are not considered headings so they don’t use
bold heading format. Instead, use the Section Title style. This style automatically starts your
section on a new page, so you don’t have to add page breaks. Note that all of the styles for this
template are available on the Home tab of the ribbon, in the Styles gallery.]

President Donald Trump’s personality is assessed and scrutinized daily in mainstream
media nationally and globally for his dominant traits of arrogance, brashness, hyper sexuality,
inflated ego, aggressiveness, and impulsivity. In fact, some experts have even labeled him as
likely having a personality disorder due to the high levels of narcissism that he tends to display
(FRIEDMAN, 2017, p. 12). He is quite boastful and often demonstrates “intemperate outbursts
and thin-skinned response to criticism” (Walsh, 2018). His rally speeches, Twitter rants, and
interactions with government officials are rife with manic, compulsive, and highly irrational
behaviors. For these reasons, his character warrants many ideas to examine personality theories.
His negative comments about Hispanics, women, and immigrants often cause anger, division,
and hostility, further claims that perhaps he lacks empathy and is highly selfish.
First, President Donald Trump’s personality aligns with many premises indicative of
Freudian Classical Psychoanalytic Theory of Personality. Developed by Sigmund Freud in the
late nineteenth century, this theory suggests that personality and emotional problems are often
linked to sex. With all the recent claims of sexual harassment, multiple extramarital affairs, and
other lascivious behaviors, it is fitting that this theory might explain some of this character’s
personality traits. Research suggests how Freud’s notion of psychoanalysis focused on the forces
of aggression as well as other physical and biological impulses. His theories emphasized how sex
exerts a powerful influence through the unconscious drives” (Muhammad Afzal, 2017). Freud
further highlighted how the id, ego, and superego govern our personalities and even comprise the
personality-s three-part structure. Freud also mentioned how regression occurs as one reverts to
immature behavior from an earlier stage of development, actions evident from Trump when he

bullies other politicians, celebrities, and even the media. His temper tantrums and Twitter rants
seem to exemplify this notion.
Freud’s defense mechanism manifest within Trump’s personality as he fights with North
Korea, Mexico, democrats, and the media, further inferring his defense mechanisms of
rationalization, projection, displacement, etc. Sletvold (2016) similarly maintains how Freud’s
theories of neurosis center respectively on defense and repressed sexuality, traits by which
Trump’s actions and multiple relationships have exuded. Freudian theory also suggests that
unhealthy personalities tend to develop not only when we become too dependent upon our
defense mechanisms, but also when the id or superego is unusually strong or the ego unusually
weak, as we can perceive from President Trump’s case as he believes that he is the greatest
leader.
In addition to Freudian theory, Jungian personality theory is also helpful for
understanding and dissecting President Trump’s personality. In fact, this theory also offered a
detailed description of many archetypes. It is evident how President Trump cites God in almost
all of his rhetoric. In addition, Jung also mentioned the archetype of Wotan, the ancient god of
storm and frenzy, who has resemblances to Trump in his “reactive tendencies, and affective
motivations that generate and propel our troubled twenty-first-century international politics and
its ongoing wars” (Sheets-Johnstone, 2017).
Jung emphasizes the presence of the Collective Unconscious and proposed two main
personality attitudes, extroversion and introversion, of which we see President Trump’s
preference for the spotlight via his former Celebrity Apprentice shows and participation in
beauty pageants before politics, making Trump highly extroverted. Studies show how Jung’s

theory posited the notion of “a collective unconscious were rooted in his clinical work with
severely mentally ill patients, and he was aware, early on, that severe mental illness offered an
example of the interplay between human biology and our psychological lives” (Durchslag, 2016,
p. 30). Jung also proposed four functions and styles of gathering information as well.
